Do you hate Listen to What the Man Said? I still love their music, but spreading these crazy conspiracy theories is just more than I can tolerate. But one I can heartily recommend if you havent read it is Mark Lewisohns Tune In. Lewisohn is THE GUY when it comes to Beatles expertise. Again, I think bloggers are younger.
So his virtual duet with John Lennon was a surprise, what a treat! I note he dropped one tune from the listless McCartney III.). To me and to anybody who knows Sgt.
Half the fun for me is seeing his reaction. Geez, I dont know if it IS the end of the McCartney road show. Side note Ringo had played in town a couple nights prior and picked up an honorary degree from Berklee while he was here. People have been commenting online about the Johnny Depp background video, both in favor and against. Yes, and he may still. $2000 Australian is about $1500 US so you were right.

I saw Dylan last year and he mostly grunted or sent out an unintelligible word or two now and again. No regrets worth every penny for the experience. Not positive on thatdidnt want to ask the guy in line with me for T-shirts how much he paid. (Hendrix is a particular band of supposed cool for a lot of baby boomers. Anyway, look forward to your report. For me it would have been a lot odder had he done Within You Without You.). OddI am listening to the Beatles station on Pandora as I write this, and for the first time (to me) a very scratchy version of In Spite of All the Danger by The Quarry Men (early Beatles band name) is now playing, which he plays on this tour. But Im not supporting his vaccine stupidity. And that obsessive guy must have a lot of cash and nothing much to do with it. But Ive since heard this happens at many of his concerts over the last 10 years at least. The End. But I cant imagine dealing with the traffic of trying to get to Fenway for a big name act like Pauland how many tickets were available at Fenway?! I recorded some stuff but if you think Im gonna record the whole show, forget about it.
Unlike past concerts, he didnt invite any audience member on stage to sign them or anything else, Im guessing because of Covid concerns. Pauls wife was in the audience BTW. Let Me Roll It Overall this was a great, often exciting show. One said Macca-chusetts loves you, (cute), another guy held a sign that said, Please autograph my daughters body, and the daughter held a sign saying, I approve that message (fairly creepy if you ask me) Not every parent wants to or can afford to do that. Set list was identical except it appears he performed two additional songs in Spokane (Women and Wives, which was the first time he performed it liveaudience didnt seem to recognize it; and Queenie Eye, which also didnt seem very popular. Strange huh? And what weird timing for Depp to show up. Glad you enjoyed the piece.
And you know what, youre probably right, its worthwhile spending the bucks. A little odd. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five I remember they were playing the Toronto Blue Jays. I guess Im a bit strange. I will say what Ive said every year for (at least) the last 20 this is my last year of concertgoing! Got to Get You Into My Life That way you can go through it and still hang outside buying loaded (peppers and onions) sausages from street vendors. I love going to shows but Im kind of stingy when it comes to paying for tickets. Would it kill ya? I debated whether to go (not sure why now) and as a friend said, Why not? I was so stoned I barely remember it. Really, nobody cares.) Usually, thats only the first one. No problem Paul. One team, cant remember which one now, hit a grand slam home run! That said, I still have a few to go to this year. But they still looked like ants and we spent most of the time looking at the monitors. But if your car mechanic said You need an 800-dollar repair, youd drop it in a heartbeat.
They have been with him for so many years and can play all these songs in their dreams. Here Today There was a weirdly blase response to Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! almost as if no one recognized it.
How is that possible?!). I wonder how much that cost?
Someone waiting in line with me in Spokane to buy merchandise said, Hes not saying it explicitly, but this shirt is saying its the end of the road. , Thank you again for your postso fun to relive such a wonderful indescribable concert. As to our kids appreciation, I exposed them to music but never really insisted on anything. The man genuinely enjoys performing live. Come On to Me dinner served after the sound-check and he received a large bag of swag that he had with him but hadnt looked at yet. Plus, by then it always feels like Ive spent as much on the artist as I intend to. Paul asked for a look first (he was kidding, of course). So 2020. Golden Slumbers He looks great for 80Dang!!! And in case youre curious, these two tickets set me back 800 bucks (750 euros). He told me only 130 people attended, there was an open bar, a vegetarian (of course!)
Odd, but affecting. But part of that is in these shows with my son, I figure if were gonna go, might as well splurge. I did notice most everyone I saw in the audience was probably 50 and oldervery few teenagers or young adults. Let that sink in for a bit. Yeah, man, they will tell you, true or not, I saw him over in Maui. All true what you said. I havent read Pauls book but that is because I have read so many Beatles books Im kinda burned out. But I find it unfathomable that any fan of McCartney wouldnt have won out Sgt. ), Security at Fenway is actually outside on the street.
. Lady Madonna (Hence two sausages. Yes, his voice has aged, but his energy and enthusiasm make up for it 10 times! Band on the Run I once refused to pay 25 bucks to see Stevie Wonder. Elton John did come to Bozeman in 2017, very unusual.
Didnt Clapton have COVID himself not too long ago? But we did wind up sitting in a parking garage for the better part of an hour afterward. You Never Give Me Your Money (Paul said they hadnt done it live for a number of years). We stayed in a motel just a 10-minute walk away from the concert venue, a beautiful trail by the river, so no worries with us!
I knew about the Lennon thing but didnt mention it to my son. I had to buy our tickets through the second-hand market as the concert venue sold out within 30 minutes of the tickets going on sale (seating capacity approximately 12,500). Hendrix in front of me literally fell back in her seat like a sack of potatoes during Let It Be, thereby screwing up my beautiful singing. In it somewhere, he explains why he now tries to talk a little about most of the songs he plays in concert. The famous writer responded he tries to tell the audience a little about what was going on in his mind before he wrote the poemand Pauls been doing that in his concerts ever since.
We had pretty good seats on the turf (they lay down a floor and chairs) a couple sections back. Has something to do with some poetry book he wrote some time ago (?) He (and you) may be exactly right. No way I was missing the encore. Remarkable! But everyone was sufficiently worried that it might and no one who worked there knew if there was or wasnt an opening act. I also think its amazing how Paul switches instruments like its nothing. Was the please sign my butt signing-holding person there? One of my friends turned down the opportunity to go as he joked about McCartney needing a walker. Pretty decent quality. If I had to recommend just one book (or series), it would be Tune In.. So as you can see from my videos, we were fairly close. Enter your email address to follow this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. But you and I both know hes got at least 5 more years in him. Dance Tonight
So I wound up sitting in the wrong seat initially and spilling someones wine (long story) on their chair for which I reimbursed her ten bucks. Tough break. But to my delight, I found I thoroughly enjoyed my long wait in line by conversing with like-minded souls who loved all of Sir Pauls music as much as I do (or even more! Yeah, no one wanted that ticket.
The boy, coming from band practice, just made it in the nick of time and starved through the whole show, not daring to leave his seat and miss even one moment of this iconic event. Letting Go how he does public readings. I have been blogging for almost seven years and the number of people who are into my Beatles posts is pitifully small. For the record, out of a 36-song set, 22 were Beatles and the rest were either Wings or more current stuff. How about A Hard Days Night? That wouldnt suck. And it shows. Maybe Im Amazed As to how much tickets cost, well, we had two options TicketMaster or MLB (as it was at Fenway). Songs like that are what Lennon referred to as McCartneys granny songs. If they come on the radio, I switch stations.
Way more than the Spokane venue, Im sure. Thats something you cant fake. Not one single person in my row knew what their seat number was and had apparently forgotten how to figure that out. And yes I was wrong about the Nancy thing. I have barely ever seen her and kind of assumed it was her. Surprised me a little. And so here they are dueting on Ive Got a Feeling.. I suppose the piano gives him a bit of a sit-down.
My daughter liked the Beatles first. I still remember my older sister coming home and talking about I Want to Hold Your Hand. She even went to see them but in her words, I couldnt hear them because everyone was screaming. BTW, I just recalled that Paul asked the girls to scream for him. So we sang Happy Birthday to him. It was August 91 degrees to start with and he went 3 hours straight (age 72) with not one break or one sip of water. First up was Cant Buy Me Love which we all sang lustily if not too well. Getting into and out of Boston is a nightmare at just about any time but especially when there are sporting or music events which is to say, constantly. Women and Wives was definitely gone. WHAT?!!? The stunt, such as it was, involved people in the cheap seats holding up We Love You Paul signs. And now here I am spending $3-400 routinely. (Even though they added another day.)
As to McCartneys voice, well its still notably him. Im getting way too old for this shit. Birthday . A little obsessive, dont you think? Paulie said. Did have to wait in line for an hour to buy a few very over-priced T-shirts, though (priced about double what they were at his 2014 concert in Missoula, MT his only time in Montana and the only other time I saw him). But our son who sort of heard of The Beatles/kind of heard of Paul McCartney/never really heard of Wings had no inspiration to take me up on my offer for a FREE trip to see such a musical legend!! My friends daughter has zero time for whatever music is contemporary and has now seen McCartney, Elton John, and (twice) Billy Joel. Well, Im scheduled to see the man at MetLife Stadium in NJ on Thursday, just two days prior to his 80th day back-to-back to Bonnie Raitt on Wednesday in Philly at the Mann. Heres Let Me Roll It segueing into Foxy Lady. The woman in front of us knew (loudly) that it was Hendrix and made sure everybody around her knew that SHE knew. Even a lot of my peers werent interested for love or money. Two hours and 40 minutes and 36 songs at age 79? BTW, being for the benefit of our fellow bloggers and whoever else may care, heres a nice 12-minute summary of Maccas June 4th show in Syracuse, New York. As to Let em In and My Love and all those, yeah, just not a fan. Is that how far you typically have to travel?
Why cant we spend that much money on a once-in-a-lifetime (twice for me) experience? Somebody had an early Birthday sign for Paul. And he talks your ear off. Tried to figure it out online for later concerts, but that probably can vary from venue to venue. Crank up that video to your TV, blow it through some speakers and you tell me. document.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value", ( new Date() ).getTime() ); Paul McCartney at Fenway Park June 7, 2022 A Splendid Time is Guaranteed forAll, Music Enthusiast At the junction of rock, blues, R&B, jazz, pop,and soul, Submissions/What I Talk About On ThisBlog, Concert Review - Roger Waters - This is Not A Drill, The Bitch is Back - Elton John Farewell Tour Review, Foxborough, MA, Summer Jam at Watkins Glen - July 28, 1973 - A Retrospective, One Song/Three Versions - Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Featured Album - Jeff "Skunk" Baxter - Speed of Heat, Paul McCartney at Fenway Park - June 7, 2022 - A Splendid Time is Guaranteed for All, A Song I Love - Loan Me a Dime - Boz Scaggs w/Duane Allman, One Song/Three Versions - Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen, Follow Music Enthusiast At the junction of rock, blues, R&B, jazz, pop,and soul on WordPress.com, https://chartmasters.org/2022/04/streaming-masters-the-beatles/, https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/australian-fans-can-watch-a-paul-mccartney-soundcheck-for-2000/news-story/0de4cefd9a815fc6fd195fe20e294932.
